Only 2 more weeks til the end of the Summer Reading Club. All you have to do is read books or magazines for chances to win terrific grand prizes. August 1 is the last day to turn in your slips. I’ll have our Director Chauncey draw the winners Monday, August 3rd.
Open to all - every Tuesday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. We are making bracelets currently and will be starting another project soon. Our purpose is to make enough items to sell at Fonda’s Talent Show and later at one of the Saturday morning Market Days @ the town square. The money goes into your Junior Library Friends fund for you to vote on something for the library. Right now, a WII gaming is receiving all of the votes. We have $15 currently. Join us for the fun.
“Books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own.”
~ William Hazlitt (1778-1830), English essayist and literary critic
“At the moment that we persuade a child, any child, to
cross that threshold, that magic threshold into a library,
we change their lives forever, for the better. It’s an
enormous force for good.” Sen. Barack Obama, D-IL
It’s hard to believe that the school year is already beginning. We really need to figure out a way to make summer break longer. Anyway, we would like to wish you a great 2008-09 school year, and remember that Community Library can help you in a number of ways. We have plenty of online resources to help with your research. In addition to our online resources, like World Book and Student Research Center, we also provide access to a HomeworkNow, where you can chat with librarians from home or school 24×7. Also, make sure to stop in the library if you need help; we are always ready and willing to help you with whatever you need.
If you are 14 or older and want to volunteer at the library, we would love to have the help! Volunteers are needed to assist library staff with various projects and programs. For more details, call Grace at 740-965-3901 or immelgr@oplin.org.
